A murder dream is one of the more unsettling scenarios to have, but like death itself, it is rarely read literally by any serious interpretive tradition — more often it concerns a decisive, sometimes violent ending to something within the dreamer's own life or psyche.
Witnessing a murder. Seeing someone else killed in a dream often reflects the dreamer processing an abrupt, forced ending to a situation or relationship — something cut short rather than allowed to conclude naturally.
Committing a murder. Dreaming that the dreamer is the one who kills is rarely a sign of any real violent impulse; it more often points to the decisive, even ruthless ending of a habit, relationship, or old version of the self that had to be shut down completely rather than gradually let go.

In Chinese folk tradition, a murder dream is sometimes read through reversal, as an omen of a conflict being decisively resolved in the dreamer's favor, rather than as a literal warning of violence.
