About Somnovis
Last updated: July 27, 2026. This page is only available in English.
Somnovis is a reference work about dream symbolism — what humans across different cultures and schools of thought have said a recurring dream image might mean, and what sleep researchers actually know about dreaming. It is published in nine languages.
Who runs this
Somnovis is operated by Artem Maliuha, a registered sole proprietor (FOP) in Ukraine. It is an independent project, not a company with a newsroom. There is one person behind it, and you can reach that person directly at support@somnovis.com.
What we claim, and what we don't
We do not claim that dreams predict the future, diagnose illness, or carry fixed meanings. The interpretations collected here are presented as cultural documents — this is what the Islamic dream-interpretation tradition has held, this is how a Jungian reading approaches the image, this is what Chinese folk interpretation says. They are recorded because people find them meaningful and because they are part of how humans have thought about sleep for centuries, not because they are established fact.
Our science sectionsays this plainly, including an article explaining that research does not support universal symbol-to-meaning dictionaries at all. We consider that article essential rather than inconvenient: a site about dream symbolism that refuses to tell you what is and isn't evidence-based is not being honest with you.
How the writing is produced
The dictionary articles are written with AI assistance, against a documented house style and editorial rules, then checked by automated quality gates before they are allowed to publish. We state this openly rather than implying a newsroom that does not exist. Our editorial policy describes the process, its limits, and what we do to keep it honest — including the rule that no claim is ever attributed to a named historical figure unless it is genuinely theirs.
The science section is held to a stricter standard than the rest of the site, because it is the only part making factual claims about the external world. It is written against a fixed brief that specifies which facts may be stated, and it may never invent a citation, a study, a sample size or a researcher's name.
How this is funded
Somnovis is supported by advertising and by an optional paid feature: a personal AI reading of a dream you describe yourself. The paid pages carry no advertising at all — if you have bought something from us, we are not also going to sell your attention on the same screen.
Corrections
If something here is wrong — a mistranslation, a misrepresented tradition, a factual error in the science section — please write to support@somnovis.com and say which page. Corrections are welcome and we would rather hear about them.
