A shark in a dream is one of the more purely frightening animal symbols, and the fear it triggers is usually the point: it represents a danger that moves unseen, beneath the surface, rather than a threat that confronts the dreamer directly.
A shark circling or glimpsed at a distance. A shark seen but not yet attacking often reflects an anxiety the dreamer can sense but hasn't fully identified — a risk in a relationship or venture that feels present without being visible yet.
A shark attack. Being attacked outright more often points to a fear that has already become concrete — a specific person or situation the dreamer now experiences as actively predatory rather than merely suspect.
