A rainbow in a dream almost always appears after some kind of turbulence, even if the storm itself wasn't shown — it's a symbol of resolution and hope arriving right after difficulty, and one of the few weather-related dream images with an almost uniformly favorable reading.
A vivid, complete rainbow. A full, bright rainbow arching clearly across the sky is generally read as a sign that a difficult period is genuinely ending, and that something good is about to become visible as a result.
A faint or fading rainbow. A pale, half-formed, or quickly disappearing rainbow tends to be read more cautiously — hope that is real but fragile, or a resolution that hasn't fully arrived yet and shouldn't be taken for granted.

Classical interpretation generally treats a rainbow as a favorable sign of relief following hardship, and sometimes as a symbol connecting the dreamer's affairs on earth to a higher, guiding order.
Jung noted the rainbow as an image bridging opposites — connecting sky and earth, and by extension conscious and unconscious — appearing at moments when a genuine reconciliation between two sides of the self becomes possible.
